Mr Nash has been working in the education field for the past 12 years and has vast experience in marketing and international students recruitment and collaboration. His career began at MASA College as Senior Marketing Manager and became Head of International Marketing during his tenure there. Then, he decided to helm a college of his own and acquired a college about three years ago.

Murugamah Rama Krishnan

Mdm Murugamah has been working in the education field for the past 11 years and has vast experience in many areas of college administration and management, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Malaysians Qualifications Agency. She began her career at MASA College as Senior Operations Manager and became Head of Finance during her tenure there. Then, she decided to helm a college of her own and acquired a college about three years ago. Prior to working in the education field, she was involved as Operations Manager and Senior Manager for telecommunication companies, namely Dancom Telecommunication Sdn Bhd and Teguh Telecommunication.

Dr Suseela Balakrishnan

Chief Executive Officer

A recipient of the prestigious UK Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship’, Dr Suseela received her doctorate in Education from the University of Leeds and has been part of the education landscape for more than 20 years having worked in various organisations and worn multiple senior leadership hats. She joined CATS college in May 2022 and has been instrumental in reinventing and reshaping the college to meet a vision that will spearhead the institution as a leader in the creative education space.
Prior to joining CATS College, Dr Suseela served as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Journey at Muscat University, Oman, and was responsible for the strategic direction and management of all the stages within the ‘student lifecycle’ that ensure students are placed at the centre of the college services and operations. And before that, she was the Head of Design, Monitoring & Evaluation with LeapEd Services Pte Ltd, an organisation that is spearheading nationwide education transformation in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Education. Within this role, she was responsible for large-scale impact studies and the design of education transformation blueprints in line with global education needs. Dr Suseela also served as Chief Executive of INTI International College Kuala Lumpur, where she led the start-up initiatives and growth of the organisation focusing on the strategic planning, as well as management of overall operations and international partnerships.
At CATS College, Dr Suseela develops and drives a comprehensive strategy that focuses on long-term organisational culture and sustainability, quality education, and a sound business plan that not just meets the commercial, academic and institutional goals but also in ensuring that the college community is supported in every way possible to enhance student experience, growth and employability.
In the next 12-24 months, she and her team hope to deliver the following:
  • To enhance the reputation of the college for academic innovation and teaching excellence, demonstrated by improved ratings in MyQuest and (Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges) and NAPEI (National Association Of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI).
  • To drive the growth and sustainability of the college by exponentially increasing student population through increasing the diploma programme offerings, introducing a spate of niche and industry-relevant undergraduate as well as masters programmes, and positioning the college to be highly competitive within the private higher education arena.
  • To shape the culture of the college to one that embraces excellence, high performance and service as the norm
  • To improve operational efficiency by streamlining business processes and optimising the use of resources.
  • To develop a minimum of one international and one local academic collaboration, and a host of industry partnerships that will help to deliver the institutional goals of CATS College and the intended student experience.

Dr Kannaki Narayansany

Director, Academic Affairs & Student Life

Dr Kannaki a/p S. Narayansany holds a PhD (UKM), specialising in Human Resource Management, MBA (UKM) and BA (Hons) also from UKM. She is also a certified human resource management professional who holds Strategic Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and Human Resource Management Professional (HRMP) from HR Certification Institute, United States.
Dr Kannaki is a learning design and innovation expert with more than 28 years of experience in teaching and training in tertiary education. She provides expert consultation on learning design solutions such as Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas and other Web 2.0 tools to engage lecturers and students in meaningful teaching and learning. She has successfully championed several curriculum-related projects and blended learning projects.
She is also actively involved in consultation projects with various companies such as Gamuda, FedEx (M), Maybank Etiqa, Genting (M), GE (M), IBM, etc. Finding her passion in research, she is continuously involved in action research on engaging students in teaching & learning and employee engagement at the workplace. At present, she is the Director of Academic Affairs and Student Life.
The International College of Creative Arts and Technology will be renowned for our collaboration, innovation, and excellence in education, student experience, and industry & community engagement. We enable and encourage creative and informed student reflection that is geared toward life-long learning and employability.
Dr Kannaki’s priority upon joining CATS college is to complete a thorough curriculum review and develop programmes that enable students to actively engage in industry networks and the academic community through classroom, studio, labs, and online participation. Her hopes for CATS College students is that they become emerging creative practitioners in creative and business industries and be able to contribute to their workplaces as transformative creative and critical thinkers who make informed career choices and ethical decisions.
To achieve this vision, Dr Kannaki and her team are committed to:
  • Training and equipping all academic staff to be accomplished in their fields and be able to inspire others to learn through their passion. Academic staff will be trained to master teaching pedagogy and andragogy so that they can support student-centred learning and engage the students through multiple learning modes, be it through face-to-face, blended or fully online classrooms.
  • Providing a world-class education to students by bringing industry into the classroom through experiential learning, work-based learning, and project-based learning so that our students are equipped with 21st-century skills and ready for employability.
  • Reviewing existing curricula and developing new, holistic and multi-disciplinary programmes to align with the needs of Industry 4.0.
